Fargues is also the historic seat of the Lur Saluces family in the Gironde. This family, one of the oldest in the region, with roots going back to the Crusades, settled in Fargues over five centuries ago, in 1472.
Dynamic and enterprising, the Lur Saluces family have had a strong influence in Sauternes and the Bordeaux region since the late 17th century.
