Vintage 2004

PROFILE

Château de Fargues 2004 : The hail on 21st July destroyed 60% of the crop. A challenging vintage that produced a wine of promising complexity.

HARVEST

It was necessary to wait until the 28th and 30th of September, and the 1st of October for the first pass. The second pass, lasting from the 5th to the 8th of October, brought in perfect grapes: balanced, fresh, and pure. Heavy rains arrived at this point and finished ten days later. Sour rot unfortunately manifested itself, ruining half of the remaining grapes. The return of fine weather in late October dried the gapes, and picking ended with a 4th pass on 4th November before the first frost arrived.

SCORES AND TASTING COMMENTS

18,5/20
Bettane & Desseauve – Tast Pro – 01/06/2005

« Perfume of apricots, with richness and style, then all-enveloping fruit with great elegance and real class, a touch of nougat with apricots. »
